| Outdoors in summer... The warmer months present huge opportunities for all
manner of fun and challenges in the fresh mountain air
If you don't have your gear with you, we're able to supply it - including a canoe and
full sets of camping equipment to support real wilderness adventures: we run an
outdoors-store which stocks a wide range of kit for sale or rent
Many other activities are also available from guides in the area, and we're able to book
these for you
The most comprehensive web-guide to what to
see and do is available at
www.wellsgray.info, but here are a few ideas...
Rafting
/ Kayaking
The Clearwater River is internationally famous for its white-water rafting
and kayaking: you could pile into a big yellow boat with the rafting company, or we'll
find you a kayaking guide to lead you through the whirling waters. More leisurely floats
are also available down the North Thompson river.

Lake-Paddling
The big, wild, back-country lakes of Clearwater, Azure, Mahood and Murtle, along
with Adams Lake, provide great opportunities for stoking away between imposing
heavily-forested valley-walls, to arrive at beautifully-situated wilderness camp-sites for
nights rich with the calls of Loons and Owls. Murtle Lake is particularly impressive:
found by driving 28km along a rough road from Blue River, this is the largest paddle-only
lake in North America

Hiking
Whether you're after a gentle stroll on even paths, or a full-on multi-day hike
into the wild green yonder, it's all here. Walk out of the door and you're instantly deep
in the forest: or try some of the well-groomed routes in Wells Gray Park, through the
alpine flower-meadows into the Trophy Mountains, up imposing Raft Peak, or around the
Battle Mountain area.

Biking
The myriad of trails criss-crossing the area are fast becoming a biker's dream:
from gnarly log-rides and ladders set-up on steep single-track by enthusiastic locals, to
the all-but-limitless scope for epic adventures on long gravel roads leading deep into the
bush, to gentle rides along the Clearwater River

Horseback
Riding
If you'd rather have four legs take the strain on your behalf, we're able to
set-up trips lasting from half a day to several days or even longer: an amazing
opportunity to see the area in much the same way as the pioneers of a century ago

Fishing
Be it dangling a worm into Dutch Lake, close to 'downtown' Clearwater, on a warm
evening, to fighting big Salmon in the raging rivers, every style of the silent sport is
here. The Rainbow Trout are good almost everywhere, from the big lakes in the Park to just
about every river: August is Salmon-time, ahead of the spawning runs the following month.
We're able to set you up with gear and licences, if you need them.
